Like many Child Care Centers Home Away From Home has a schedule, but we also know that it is very important to remain flexible with children. A typical day at Home Away From Home would include time for children to explore the classroom, (free play) and time to have more structured activities such as teacher lead experiments, reading, games, and cooking activities. The process of learning and interacting with the environment, other people and materials  is our focus. Outside at Home Away From Home there is a  large climber, a climbing dome, circle cycle, sandbox, play houses, teeter totters and an outdoor easel to encourage creativity and a love of nature and the community. The majority of the day is free for the kids to explore, at Home Away From Home we set out materials for them to explore and learn with but feel that children learn best through play. The day is a balance of active play and quiet play, large group , small group and individual activities,  Since Home Away From Home is licensed for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years, developmentally appropriate activities and experiences are planned for every age range.
